Every Customer has a riding position that accommodates their body type and style of riding. Based on initial body measurements and the answers they give to our soft tissue questions, the frame(s) we recommend should accommodate their riding position. We usually recommend one of several bicycle frames to a customer, depending on the type of riding they want to do and their price range.
Our job is to transfer their riding position to the bicycle they choose, or to inform them if a frame will not accommodate their riding position. This position is always defined in terms of the three points of contact with the bicycle: the pedals, the saddle and the handlebars. This initial position is a starting position that will be fine tuned as we listen to the customer describe how they are feeling on the bike and as we watch them ride on a trainer or see how they move with their bike when they ride outside.
As we look at the three fit zones as described above, there are usually a number of frame sizes, stems, and seat posts that will accommodate the desired riding position for our customer. Please understand that there is more than one way to arrive at the same riding position using different frames and components.
The Fit Kit System is a tool much like a map and compass, or a global positioning device. It is a “standard” that has been tested and established over time by many in the bicycle industry. Midwest Cyclery is proud to offer this new service. For complete details, or to make an appointment, visit our store and talk to Doug, call us at (630) 668-2424 or send us an email.
